Big runs on the board for cricket

The Victorian Cricket and Community Centre is a step closer to reality, after the federal government’s $10million investment into the dedicated sporting and educational complex at the Junction Oval in St Kilda as part of regional development Australia Fund Round 5B.

The facility will provide a new home for all of Cricket Victoria’s operations, ranging from its administration right through to its community and high performance programs. The new facility will also house the national centre for ‘Diversity through Cricket’ which shall be utilised to promote social inclusion and harmony in the community.

Cricket Victoria’s CEO Tony Dodemaide commented that “Waypoint were engaged to lead the project on behalf of Cricket Victoria due to their extensive success in developing and negotiating funding solutions for world class training and administration “centres of excellence.”  Their advice and guidance over the past 12 months has been critical to us getting the project to where it is today.”

The federal government’s $10M commitment is in addition to $10million already committed to by Cricket Victoria and Cricket Australia, with the remaining funding to be confirmed over the coming months.
