Eagles fly into town of Victoria Park

The West Coast Eagles have announced they have entered into a Heads of Agreement (HOA) with the Town of Victoria Park to develop a new home for the Eagles at Lathlain Park, seven kilometres south-east of the Perth CBD, as part of facility development agreement that has been facilitated by Waypoint.

The mutual benefits of this project also extend to Perth Football Club, who are currently based on the selected site, and will gain from increased exposure and rejuvenated football and function facilities.

The first stage of the overall precinct redevelopment will include a $50m elite high performance training, administration and community complex featuring; two ovals, a best practice gymnasium, large indoor training area, aquatic recovery, medical, coaching and player development areas, administration headquarters and a new home for the highly respected and vital services of the David Wirrpanda Foundation.  Flexible education areas, including dedicated facilities as well for the club’s community programs and a community hub, including a café, merchandise store and club museum will all feature within the new building.

Stage two of the project focuses on; rejuvenation of the entire Lathlain Park precinct, including BBQ areas, community running/walking tracks, playgrounds and landscaping, a synthetic running track around the perimeter of one of the ovals and new and improved clubrooms, including function facility for the Perth Football Club.

The announcement is the culmination of significant work undertaken by the club and Waypoint. Waypoint were initially engaged to develop a number of concepts around a potential high performance training and administration facility, and following the completion of this work, have lead the negotiations between the various parties involved in order to achieve the best outcome for all the project partners.

Eagles Chief Executive Trevor Nisbett commented that “Waypoint’s continual guidance, knowledge of best practice facilities around Australia and the world, and ability to lead and facilitate our negotiations with the town, has led to an outcome we are delighted with.”

While the training and administration facility will be cutting-edge, the new headquarters will also have a strong impact on the local community, through the club’s diverse range of successful community programs and its longstanding close relationship with the David Wirrpanda Foundation.
