World-first fan portal wows Cats’ fans and AFL establishment

Charles Brownlow roof in place in SIMONDS Stadium’s $90 million redevelopment

Waypoint are proud to announce another significant milestone in the Simonds Stadium $91 million redevelopment with the installation of the first roof bay on the new Charles Brownlow Stand. The roof bay, which is one of 13, was lifted by a 450 tonne crane. The occasion was captured by fans and passers by on smartphone, quickly becoming a hit on social media.

Lighting up Simonds Stadium

The first night AFL game in Geelong is much closer with all four light towers having now been installed at Simonds Stadium.  The first night game will take place on Saturday 1st June when the Cats tackle the Gold Coast Suns.

“Today is a significant step as we move toward our first ever night AFL football game at Simonds Stadium,” Geelong Acting Chief Executive Rob Threlfall said.
